Portland
We took a quick trip down to Portland over the weekend, since Anya's Aunt Danielle and her beau Clifton are visiting Uncle Bob and Aunt Amy from way far away South Dakota. Way too short of a trip for my liking, but it was great to see my step-bro and sis (and Amy and Cliff of course).
Anya was taken with Danielle for sure. Those two bonded over makeup and cheerleading and general girliness (I'm actually not joking). Chris was taken with Clifton and they bonded over....stuff...I don't know, I wasn't listening. But we all agree that he should hurry up and propose to Danielle and join the family (no pressure there, buddy! :-) ).

Funny and Amazing
Grandma Lodwig just called. She's taking Anya for the night. She reports that Anya and her were driving past a McDonald's and Anya said, "That M is making people fat!"
I'm proud if her for knowing this, of course, but sadly she didn't have it as an original thought. About 4 or 5 months ago she asked as we drove past a McDonald's "What's that!?"
to which I replied, "It's a giant M."
"What da giant M doin'?"
"Making people fat", I quipped.
So it would seem things (especially extremely clever things) get imbedded deep in this child's brain for later recall. Go Anya!

Cute kid quote of the afternoon
I was playing "this little piggy" with Anya's toes. During the ..."wee wee wee all the way home" part, I ended at her nose.
When I did that, a look of deep concern spread across her face. "Mama, does the piggy live in my nose??! I don't want it in my nose!"
