General update

I had forgotten that I set up this website, so this is the first journal entry in awhile. The plan is for this space to be a general repository of all things Anya...Anya is just over 3 months old now. So far, parenthood has been much easier than Chris and I expected - most of it due to Anya's mellow nature. She has been sleeping through the night since maybe 6 weeks old (I forget exactly when that started) and for the past month has been sleeping from about 8:30pm to 7am. So Chris and I can't blame any lack of sleep on her (usually Laika, the dog, is the cause of sleep deprivation here).

As far as milestones go, Anya started consistently rolling over when getting tummy time about 2 weeks ago (she had been accidentally rolling over a handful of times since the first week). Oddly, though, this past week it seems she forgot how to roll over. But she also seems to be enjoying tummy time now. So I think (and hope) that has something to do with it. She has been fascinated with her hands lately and they are in her mouth almost any chance she gets. She has also started grabbing at her toys hanging from the activity mat. Anya occasionally will try to put them in her mouth, but right now she prefers just putting her hands in her mouth.

Anya is a very happy and talkative baby. Often, when I sing songs or talk to her, she will "talk" back to me. She also talks to the toys in the activity mat. Her favorite is the monkey, followed by the elephant. I started back to work part-time in mid-January. Anya has been going to a sitter, Jodi, during that time. It seems to be going well for her. She gets to see a few other children then. We also have a standing lunch playdate with several friends every Wednesday. Anya is the youngest by a few months. She's starting to notice the other children and take some interest in watching them. We also just started our PEPS group Monday nights. There is a boy there that shares Anya's birthday as well as pediatrician. It seems like a nice group of people and we hope that we can form some friendships there.

Anya is starting to wake up from her nap now, so that means it's time to eat. Hopefully more updates to come...
