I just had our very last preschool parent-teacher conference. Bittersweet. We just have two more months of class left before graduation.
The takeaway was that Anya is chomping at the bit for Kindergarten. Her teachers say that she is very interested in learning and has great focus - she wants to absorb everything and asks lots of questions. I'm thrilled to hear this, since when I see her in sports-type classes, she doesn't listen to the instructors very well and does her own thing.
Another thing I asked about and am happy to hear is that she is patient with the younger children in the mixed-age class. On playdates, we've had some issues with her being rather mean to the younger siblings, so I was concerned she might act that way with other young kids. Her teachers say that Anya doesn't really pay much attention to them, but when they ask for a big kid volunteer to assist a younger kid or hold their hand, she usually offers. Since I mentioned the playdate issues, though, the teachers will give Anya more opportunity to work on relationships with younger kids. Have I mentioned I love her teachers?
